No matter how I’m going to put this, I just want you to know.
To the WonderDad who learned how to braid my hair, who had to wake up in the middle of the night due to my endless crying or have to take me to every soccer, or even basketball practice, you matter!
I know you didn’t sign up for this but even when you and mom brought me into this world and life thinking it would be easy to raise me on your own or together. But for some reason, the universe had turned the tables and had placed you in a position where it may have been difficult for you.
I know you don't mind, and I know you'd do everything for me, so I wouldn't feel emotionally deprived or inferior to others.
It’s easy to shine the spotlight on mom but I want you to know how much I appreciate you, and that I see the sacrifices and the role you play in my life.
I know that it’s not easy to raise me, and the fear that comes along with it. But I would like to tell you that you have done nothing but amazing things in my life.
You have led me by example, and displayed integrity and work ethic when no one seemed to be watching. You’ve taught me how to defend myself, and be street smart. You’ve taught me how to be strong and resilient in everything, and most importantly, you’ve taught me how to adjust to life. To stand back up after all the failures, and had held your hand when I thought that I would never be able to continue or have given up.
I know it’s not easy raising me, especially when you start to become so overprotective of me growing up while I reach for my independence and freedom, or even when I had started to talk back to you or that I have avoided staying home. I know I’ve given you a lot of worries and scares but I understand that you had my best interests at heart.
You’ve been nothing but patient with me, and I know that I often don’t tell you how much I appreciate and love you but I do. A lot. I would never be who I am today without you and your guidance.
So despite not always being able to show you how much I appreciate you, I want you to know how much I appreciate you and love you. Happy Fathers day to my incredible wonderdad.
